Magical Winter Shoot on Prince's Island

On the Prince’s Eyot

I was recently commissioned to take some winter photographs of The River Cafe in Prince’s Island. A restaurant on an island on the Bow River, in the middle of downtown Calgary. The restaurant is the only freestanding building on the island and you must walk across a bridge to dine there so it is quite a romantic destination. It started snowing giant fluffy flakes one afternoon so I asked my friend Jen to be my model, went by her house to choose wardrobe and we walked over to the island for our shoot. I wanted my model to be a character in a magical story. I might be recently obsessed with Outlander so imagine her in a scene from this gorgeous and romantic period series. We decided on three images from the series and I will post the rest on instagram. Thank you to the blog Toque & Canoe for arranging this collaboration.
